Hi Torsten,

You're right there ,key to success is consistency. And I think it's applicable not only to learning English but to other things as well. I have got to do it. Apart from these methods there is another way which I found really helpful, reading books. It helps building vocabulary and increases fluency level. I have found your Audio Learning course very interesting. But unable to download MP3 files. Can you please help me out?And please do me a favor, please amend my mistakes.

Thanks a lot!
Chandralekha

Hi Chandralekha,

Thanks a lot sharing your ideas with us. As for the MP3 files, at this point you can listen to them online only. We might offer a paid version for download in the future though.

In the meantime, I suggest you start on the 30/30 Challenge. The sooner you start the better it will be for you!
Best regards,
Torsten

let your ears be familiar #500 (permalink) Tue Jun 30, 2009 11:09 am   let your ears be familiar

My dear friend Fan Of Arabian Horses
I think what Torsten wants to say here is that “let your ears be familiar with the foreign language. It is not important to know or understand every single word from a CD or a foreign channel while you are driving; the idea is that to be attached with and to be familiar with the foreign words of that language. Another comment to be added is that, how long will it take us to learn our mother tongue? Sometimes it will take more than 15 or 20 years to master all the structural elements of our mother tongue, and sometimes, when one wants to speak his/her standard language, he/she will definitely make certain mistakes. Therefore, it is an irony to try to learn any foreign language in a very limited time.
It is only my opinion.

I find it so difficult to listen to the native speakers, they speak so fast and I can't catch up with what they say. Sometime, I watch english film without subtitle, but it is difficult, too.

Dear friend,
Of course, my friend you will find it difficult to understand the native speakers’ speech if your ears never get used to such language and as I think, it is normal. To overcome such problem and if you have the desire to learn the language, try as hard as you could to listen to movies (that are never been translated into your language), listen to English songs even if you do not understand the words of those songs. Try to repeat the cassettes several times, then you will discover that you start understanding some of their words, try practice reading. Read as much as possible any articles, essays, books, newspapers or magazines that are written in the English language. In this way, your ears will get used to the English language. Gradually, day by day, your English will be better and you will be to understand the native speakers’ speech.

Hi Torsten!
I recover after being sick so I return back to the forum. I didn't listen to the news but I want to react about the burial of Mickael Jackson. I wonder why did his family keep in secret the place where his body should be put. I don't understand. We know that Michael has been loved by many people. Those people inlcuding me need to know where was Michael put.
