. Jesuses is the plural, just like bus/buses.
Jesus' or Jesus's are the possessives. . _________________ Native English teacher at Mister Micawber's |

What will the Catholic Church say when they find out you are talking about the plural of Jesus? _________________ Test Of English for International Communication TOEIC Preparation & TOEIC Vocabulary |

Oh, yes the english-test.net Jesus -- the one who asks so many interesting questions. Grammatically speaking the plural of Jesus is a bit like the plural of Charles, isn't it? _________________ Test Of English for International Communication TOEIC Preparation & TOEIC Vocabulary |

Yes, it does get a bit tricky. Do you think that's why many Charleses prefer being called Chuck ... just to eliminate potential plural confusion?

To be honest, I don't think there are many situations in which you would use the plural of a person's name. This is probably because every person is unique... _________________ Test Of English for International Communication TOEIC Preparation & TOEIC Vocabulary |

Hello! How is it going?
Oh my god! I can?t believe it! Jesuses?
Are you joking? Maybe pulling my leg?
Torsten, Jesus must be laughing in heaven!
Well, you can use "Jesuses" in informal Spanish, but I would say that?s not correct.
"How many Jesuses live here?" (?Cu?ntos Jesuses viven aqu??)
Another informal way is using your definite article 'the' (=El, La, Los...) before the noun but in singular.
"The Jesus (Los Jes?s) don?t dream of hell" (Los Jes?s no sue?an con el infierno)
But, proper Spanish would be:
"How many people called Jesus are listening to me from heaven at this very moment?" (?Cu?ntas personas llamadas Jes?s me est?n escuchando desde el cielo en este mismo momento?)
Remember!
Jesus in Spanish is Jes(?)s. Can you see that mark, that "stress"? We call it "acento". Be careful! Jes(u)ses hasn?t got any "acento" on the 'u'
By the way, Do you say "The Englishes, The Spanishes... or The English, The Spanish...?
Enjoy Saturday! |
