"rise up" vs. "get up" #2 (permalink) Mon Jul 03, 2006 13:59 pm   "rise up" vs. "get up"

.
Get up = arise; rise. Rise alone would have the same meaning in this test question, but up is redundant except in specific definitions:

rise up--

1- stand up on the hind legs, of quadrupeds
2- come to the surface
3- take part in a rebellion; renounce a former allegiance
