Hello again

Could you please rewrite thie given sentence for me by eliminating the repetition of involve. What could possibly be the best substitute?

1- Passion, whether it involves love or hatred, involves a lot of suffering.

A couple of ideas with minmum change to the sentence:

Passion, whether it involves love or hatred, entails a lot of suffering.

Passion, whether love or hatred, involves a lot of suffering.
