Here, as long as has meaning #3 (from the American Heritage Dictionary):

CONJUNCTION:
1. During the time that: I'll stay as long as you need me.
2. Since: As long as you've offered, I accept.
3. On the condition that: I will cooperate as long as I am notified on time.

I just want to ask if this sentence is correct... I mean shouldn't it be "I told my son That I would take him..." instead of "take me..."
