Elate with victory vs. elated by victory

However, he was elate with victory and full of confidence and force.
I am just elated by that.

Could you help me to understand better the difference (in meaning) between use elate and elated in the cases (if any)?

I think that elate is a rather outmoded adjective, mostly superseded by elated.

Hi Tamara,

Strikes me the only person wanting to use elate would be a duff poet triyng to make his line scan.
