The word 'tot' Sun Nov 19, 2006 21:34 pm  The word 'tot'

Hi,

'Tot' also means a child's mug, to give you just one more definition of the word. I dare say 'tot' is a quite versatile word with its 12 meanings listed in the OED.

Hi Tamara

Hmmm... Quaint Southernisms in Russian... Very Happy

You know, not too long ago I had to prepare several groups of German business people for job assignments in Alabama. But I had to enlist the help of some Alabamians to assist me with the pronunciation and especially with the informal lingo down there. Laughing

I'm familiar with a number of Southernisms, but definitely nowhere near all of them. However, if the number of Google results is any indication, I think you can safely file "tote fair" in you "quaint but unlikely to be useful file". Very Happy

Yes, Amy, I've already done that. Sure. Smile

Hi Tamara ... I have never seen 'tote fair' used in English. I don't say that it may never have been used, of course, but the quote you use is definitely not mainstream English.
