Hi,

'Prowl' describes the way an animal walks around cautiously when it is looking for another animal to attack and eat.

You might like to know that the noun 'prowler' describes someone who is walking around in an area in a suspicious manner.

Hi

as explained by Alan prowl is the act of predation (searching) in animals and a type of gait (walk) in humans.

It also maybe helpful to give you some alternatives: to lurk, to casually patrol, to roam.
