It is the fourth consecutive year that we have been including and removing this topic from the syllabus!

Just out of curiosity, why did you decide to use the present perfect continuous rather than the present perfect simple?

No, Tom, it doesn't sound odd. The continuous form tends to add a feeling of duration. Using the simple form would look at each of the four consecutive instances more as complete events. You can use either form here. I just wanted to hear your reason.
