HI,

'Crew' is the word for the people who work on a ship or plane. 'Stranded' literally means left on the beach by the sea after say a shipwreck when the ship has sunk. It can also more generally describe a situation where you have no means of transport to go get away from where you are. When the weather is extremely bad as with thick fog, the passengers at an airport can be stranded because there are no planes flying.
