She was a beautiful woman with long, auburn hair piled high above a serene face. What is the meaning of `piled high' in this sentence? Could anyone explain it? _________________ Please let me know if I have made any mistakes in any of my sentences.

It means that the woman's hair was heaped on top of her head, maybe in a bun or similar hairdo.

Jamie, when I think of a 'beehive' hairdo, there is much more teasing than piling or heaping that comes to my mind... unless it's the heaping of tons of hairspray onto the do. Mr. Green
