Is the actor reproducing Bristol's accent? To me it sounds like a very neutral American accent -- certainly not Southern, is all I can say.

Hi Conchita, how much of the recording did you listen to? There are two speakers, first a woman gives an introduction and then M. Bristol reads his own book.

I haven't been able to listen to the recording again, but the first time, I thought I heard the woman say that an actor was going to do the reading -- nice voice, by the way.

Yes, the woman who spoke at the beginning said it was an actor reading the book. I did not get the impression he was attempting to do any particular accent other than "standard". Some of the language itself reminds me of my 95-year-old uncle.
