| In the United States, people would be shocked and a bit amused if you mentioned the Pakistani objection to consuming milk after fish, because Americans of every age normally drink milk with dinner, and we suffer no ill effects from drinking milk with our fish dinner. |

In my country, people can drink milk in the morning and in the evening and it's not a problem for them when they drink milk after eating fish.

| Except for young children, drinking milk with meals is very uncommon in Spain, as in many other parts of the world (some cultures never even drink cow's milk). Actually, I've only seen it done by people in American films -- another regular on their table seems to be mashed potatoes, by the way! |

Another thing you'll notice in American films is that waitresses put down glasses of water as soon as they approach the table, and before the person has examined the menu. You can ask for all the water you want, and you never pay for it. |

I haven't noticed that, but you often see waitresses refill coffee cups -- something they don't do here.
PS: We also get all the water we want for free, as long as it isn't bottled (mineral water), though. The bread with our meal is often free, too. |

Hi Tom,
I have heard of this for the first time. Let me examine one of my brothers as milk and fish is his habitual dish for dinner.Jokes aside, that is no more than a false assumption, however there are scores of people that acquired an allergy to milk. Maybe, skin pigmentation is one of the symptoms of an allergy.  |

I have such white spots and when I got them, in our STRICT HINDU household, even onions and garlic were banned as these are considered Out-of-Bounds of being STRICTLY VEGETARIAN... and there is absolutely no question of fish being cooked there.
So I MOST DEFINITELY KNOW that this is just an urban legend... Myth.. Whatever...
However, my problem is, my wife-to-be BELIEVES in it...
