Hello,
It's 'calmed down' because the object of calm down is always a person. So, you can't say "She calmed down her anger."

Since that question has not actually been addressed yet, I'll suggest that it's due to the fact that 'anger' isn't necessarily the emotion or the only emotion that you might feel after an attack.
