'So' as a conjunction indicates a result or purpose clause, and is often followed by 'that': Laura wears gloves so (that) her hands will stay warm.

'That' as a conjunction introduces a dependent descriptive clause modifying the main clause or an element of it: Laura wears gloves that were made in England
