in the sentence:

"If we had more money we ________ travel a lot"

Which one is correct and why grammaatically??

"we'd better" or "we might"

If we had more money (now) we might travel a lot (now).

But in my opinion both of the two are correct grammatically, but 'might' is absolutely right filled in the sentence. The meaning is clear yet 'had better' is a little odd in the meaning.

We'd better (we had better) doesn't make any sense in your sentence. Therefore, might is the correct option.

In your sentence, you could also possibly say "... we'd travel a lot" (we would travel a lot), but I think might is better in this case. It's more tentative (i.e. less sure) than would.
