You have posted your comment under question 4 of the test.
The answer to question 1 is 'trod'.
If you clicked on 'trod' while you were doing the test, this is the response you would have gotten when you checked your answers:

If you chose an incorrect answer for question 1 ('tread', for example), this is the response you would have received when you checked your answers:

Possibly you clicked on the incorrect choice by accident as you were doing the test. Or did you possibly misinterpret the discussion (in the English Teacher Explanations forum) about the past editing issue in question 1 of this test?
