TOEFL® essay: Some people prefer to work for a large company

Some people prefer to work for a large company. Others prefer to work for a small company. Which would you prefer? Use specific reasons and details to support your choice.

I think that preferences in a company size mostly depend on someone's personality, weather you are career oriented or people oriented person. I think that career obsessed people prefer large corporations. But I would choose working in a small company. Working in a small company, in my opinion has far more advantages than working in a large one. First of all, there is much less burocracy in a small company, that in a large one, If I need to take off, I simply ask my manager to let me go for one day. In a large company I would need to write a note and wait till it gets approved by the higher manager, which is very inconvenient. Another important advantage of working in a small firm is that you know your co-workers personally, know everyone’s name and you are usually a good friend with most of them. The work atmosphere is more friendly and informal. In a large company people usually can get stressed by high pressure and lack of normal human communication, which sometimes can make people hate their jobs. At the small office everyone feels more comfortable, which also, in my point of view increases work productivity. I work as a graphic designer in the small (about 20 people) company and I get more creative freedom when producing some graphics, because I only have to get approval from one manager, not from a hundred of them. I think this independence helps me use my potential fully. I believe that smaller company provides much more fun and stress free environment for workers that a large one, which makes smaller companies a great place to work.
