I think you should write about your real thought of true love, for example your feeling with girlfriends.
Personally, I think true love is the love which can remain in difficulties.

True Love... oh! When you get it in your life you feel like having met the real you that was hidden for an age...! True love is beyond time, space, and words as well. True Love says: When I give, I give myself. All the distances and spaces just fade away and what really remains is an eternal closeness of two hearts bound together...!

Many Americans say that true love is a decision and not an emotion. People who truly love each other stay committed to one another even when they don't feel any loving emotions.

Imagine a man caring for his wife who is suffering from cancer. He doesn't feel the same kind of love he did when he was "falling in love" with her. Maybe he even wishes she would die soon. But he still shows his love in the care he gives her, even though he is stressed and sad and feels nothing sweet.

Imagine a parent's love for a teenage child who causes nothing but problems. My neighbor had a child like that, and her love was manifested in her will and effort to change her daughter, even when she only felt negative emotions toward her.

I knew a young woman who even put her mother in prison and said the reason was that she loved her mother. She said that in prison her mother would be protected from herself and would be forced to get psychological help.

There's a word for what Jamie mentioned in his last post: devotion.

This is the part that makes many marriages last, in lieu of perpetual in-loveness, happiness, romance, etc. Those things don't always last, and when they go, loyalty and/or devotion are what keep the marriage strong.

The devotion is tied to deeply felt feelings of love, friendship -- as in best friends -- and the partnership aspect of a marriage. There might also be some positive feelings of nostalgia to keep the boat afloat.

There are people who are miserable and dislike their spouse for many years, but later start to have feelings again that they describe as love.

Anyway, devotion is a type of love, or a demonstration of a type of love. It's just not the type of love they show on TV.

It is also worth thinking of the difference of how man and woman perceive 'love'. I spent too much time with men that sometimes in relationships I can shut all feelings and just follow my perspective of the situation. If I decided not to care, then I will not care, just like that. The only time I cannot do this is when I deal with difficult situations involving my family and my best friend, who is like a sister to me.

So far I haven't found the one man I can feel this way. I think this feeling can only be developed after spending all the good and bad times together, for a period of time.
