Hello,
No, a "pen name" refers to writers who choose names, other than their real or proper names, because they don't use their real names when publishing a piece of literature or articles. In other words, "a pseudonym used by an author."

A "nickname" refers to a humorous or endearing name given to someone by his/her friends, colleagues etc. Specifically, "a name that is added to or substituted for the proper name of a person, place, etc., as in affection, ridicule, or familiarity."

That's right, Englishholic. Many thanks for pointing this out -- it'll get changed with the next update.
