Word required for a situation

Hi

Is there any word for the time when a school closes for students--I mean, can I say "off-time"? Do you find the following correct and natural?

In the US, we use expressions such as summer vacation, spring break and semester break. It depends on why the school is closed. When there is a lot of snow, we just say that the 'schools were closed' or that the kids had 'a snow day'.

This might be a sentence you'd hear, for example:
Come see me after spring break.
.

In my small island we would say: Come and see me when school's over.
