Hi

Could you please tell me if the following sentence is correct and natural? Is something missing between late and we?

The bus came so late we had to wait for two hours.

Hi Tom,

It's fine as it is. You could add 'that we had to ...' but it's not really necessary.

It's all about the "so".

the "so" here relates to the late-ness of the bus, rather than separating two clauses.

"so" here could be changed to "very" and then you'd need a "so" between 'late' and 'we'.

I hope that makes sense, I'm kind of new to this Smile
