Hi, everybody

Please, imagine the situation: I need to make some improvements to the CPU and I want some exprets to come up with ideas for those improvements. Can I say this phrase: "I offered the challenge to the exprets" meaning that I compelled/ordered/asked them to generate ideas?

compelled/ordered/asked -- these are quite different in meaning, one from another.

'offer the challenge' is merely a way of saying 'ask'.
