Can someone please tell me which of the following sentence is correct?

1) Reading books makes you wiser day by day.
2) Reading books makes you wiser everyday.

Are there any better alternatives?

1) Reading books makes you wiser day by day. (Step-by-step you become wiser.)
2) Reading books makes you wiser everyday. (Ambiguous. Could mean you stay at the same level of wisdom each day.)

Just a little note that 'everyday' and 'every day' are different.

(I guess you just forgot the space.)
