Hi Rosario,

There are three basic ways of making a comparison. You can do this by saying things are the same as in: This is book is as funny as that one. You can suggest that one thing is more **** than another as in: This book is funnier than that. Thirdly you can say that one thing is the most **** and you use the article 'the' to show that it is the one that stands above all the others as in: This is the funniest book I have ever read.

These then are the three degrees of comparison:

1 positive = as funny as
2 comparative = more funny than
3 superlative = the funniest of them all
