GRE question: Are dictionaries allowed? #1 (permalink) Mon Aug 11, 2008 0:57 am   GRE question: Are dictionaries allowed?

i NEED to find out if dictionaries are allowed to be used while taking any portion of the GRE. I am assuming that they are not, but I haven't seen anything on this on all the GRE websites I've checked.

Hi mirgildea

Here is a quote from the official ETS site. The following will result in your dismissal and your test being canceled:
Quote:
using any aids in connection with the test, such as: mechanical pencils, pens, pagers, beepers, calculators, watch calculators, books, pamphlets, notes, rulers, highlighter pens, stereos or radios with headphones, telephones, cell phones, watch alarms (including those with flashing lights or alarm sounds), stop watches, dictionaries, translators, and any hand-held electronic or photographic devices

Dictionaries are definitely not permitted.

GREAT! THANK YOU. I GUESS I DIDN'T SEE THIS. Thank you very much. I have so many more questions. I have heard of the "split" exam. What are the benefits of this? I also sometimes wonder how long the average person studies for the GRE... Thanks for anyone's reply.
