with or without for? #1 (permalink) Thu Aug 14, 2008 21:24 pm   with or without for?

Hello everyone

I'd like to ask if "for" is necessary in the following sentence:

Effectiveness of funding (for) non-profit organizations depends on the tax treatment in the country.

And can "financing" be used in this sentence instead of "funding"?

Hi,

There is a difference. By adding 'for' indicates that the funding is set aside/intended/earmarked for ...whereas 'funding' with a direct object indicates just that -the organizations are funded. To me 'financing' and 'funding' both mean the same - providing money.
