Guarantee/warranty #2 (permalink) Mon Apr 25, 2005 10:10 am   Guarantee/warranty

Guarantee is the more general of the two words in meaning. It has the sense of assurance both as a noun and a verb.
Warranty is the actual written document that supports the assurance that something will be repaired or replaced without additional cost to the buyer.
