To place and put

Hi everyone..
Well my question is..
When do I have to use the "to place" and "put"

What is the different between them?

There are many examples of the uses of these two verbs but they both mean to transfer one thing from one place to another. The main difference is that put is used in a general sense and place in a specific case. So we have: Put the book on the table but Place the tablet on your tongue.
