Dear Teacher : please explain the following paragraph.

Decision Making requires the evaluation of alternatives and the selection of the best course of action based on the information available and the personal judgment of the decision maker with consideration to environmental factors. The better the quality and reliability of the information products, the better the chances of a favorable outcome as a result of the decision.

Dear Teacher : please explain the following paragraph. #2 (permalink) Tue May 05, 2009 1:21 am   Dear Teacher : please explain the following paragraph.

Hi Ganesh,
I understood that Decision making depends on 4 coherent elements
1- evaluation of the alternatives
2- doing the best to choose between the alternatives according to the information that we get by evaluation
3- the person's judgment
4- the enviromental factors.

Decision Making requires the evaluation of alternatives When do you make a decision? of course, when you have to choose between 2 things, A or B.
To make this decision you evaluate the 2 alternatives A & B. It means, you search for the advantages and disadvantages of each one of them. This is the first element.

the selection of the best course of action based on the information available As you have advantages and disadvantages, you have information. Now, you have to do your best to select one of the choices according to this information.

I think personal judgment refers to the person's desire , you judge and choose between A or B without refering to information you depend on your own opinion and desire.

The fourh element which affects your decision is the enviromental factors surrounding the 2 choices. If A or B are jobs, the enviromental factors may be the place the collegues, or the type of work. These factors directs your decision.

The better the quality and reliability of the information products, the better the chances of a favorable outcome as a result of the decision.
As long as the information you depend on in selecting is reliable, the chances of achieving the desired outcomes of this decision will be better.

This is how I understood this paragraph,
I hope that I made it easy not difficult by this explanation.

Best,
Manal
