Can you tell me the difference in usage of "of" and "in"?

It is easier to preach than to practise?

Is "easier " used here as adj. or verb?

Hi Vivek,

To describe all the differences and uses of these two prepositions would take too long. I'm afraid. Could I suggest you look at a piece I've written for the site under ESL Lessons called Prepositions, which gives examples of several prepositions. Basically in is used to describe a position inside and of has a strong sense of possession.

A small example: I have just read one of his books and in chapter 4 you can find a description of one of his adventures in the jungle.

If there are any particular examples of the use of prepositions, please send a note to one of our forums.

Your other point is about easier here used adjectivally - the adverb form would be more easily.
