Don't worry. The verbal section of GRE is one just one of many things admissions committees take into consideration, and for Chemistry, it would be the least importnat. Furthermore since you are an international applicant ( i assume from your score), the subject test weights more. I scored V330 and Q790 and when I addressed the question you are now asking to one of the top schools , they anwered exactly what I told before( I'm pursuing PhD in Physics).
On the other hand, in the top schools, where the competition is very high, it is difficult for the commitees to select among so many good students, so if you think that the rest of your application is not strong enough, it wouldn't be a bad idea to retake the test, (Just as I am intended to do).
In my view, even if you are going for Science, the verbal score has something to say about you: Your capatity in "digesting" large amounts of knowledge in a short time. That's one of the thing the committees are looking for. |
