bilk: one who cheats
swindler: person who tricks someone to get money
delude: to make someone believe something which is wrong (do not delude yourself)
charlatan:person who says they are an expert, but really are not
betrayer: person who reveals a secret about (someone) to their enemies/to give (someone) away:
the spy was betrayed to the secret service; an informer betrayed the whereabouts of the murderer; by asking a stupid question, he betrayed his ignorance of the geography of the Mediterranean.
quack (informal): unqualified doctor
beguile: to deceive, cheat, deprive of by trickery, charm, captivate, while, divert attention pleasantly from
deceive: to trick; to make (someone) believe something which is not true: he deceived the bank manager completely.
cheat: person who tricks someone so that they lose:
I never play cards with Paul -- he always cheats.
He cheated me out of $10, he made me lose $10 by tricking me. |
