Hello Amy, pleased to meet you. It's interesting that you call yourself a yankee. I mean, how do you define 'yankee'? Is it enough to be raised in the north of the US or is there more to it? Are there also coloured Yankees are they always white? Looking forward to learning from you, Andreana _________________ A smile will open doors |

Hi Amy!
What about you? If anybody called you a "Rebel" would you deny that immediately?

Hi Michael
Well, I might not deny being a bit of a "rebel", but I would deny being a "Reb", even though there are a couple of southerners on the family tree. I'd also deny that I'm a "southern belle".

Hi Conchita
The expression "southern belle" is an old*, fixed expression and refers to an upper class woman from the American South (e.g. possibly a plantation owner's wife/daughter). This woman would also be known for her impeccable manners and etiquette.
(* "old" by American standards - i.e., dates back to colonial times, I think)
The expression "southern beau" does not exist (at least not as a fixed expression).
And, no, there also aren't any "northern belles".
Amy
EDIT: I guess I'm having trouble thinking of an equivalent expression for someone from the north because I associate the expression "southern belle" very closely with "plantation". And there weren't / aren't any plantations in the north. |

Hi Amy,
I just have learnt that Yankee and Amy is the same person. Before, I thought that Yankee and Amy are two different persons.
Hi, I'm very nice to know you. You know, your explanations have left deep impressions in my heart, in evry detail.
You know, until yesterday, I "had hated" very much Yankee because of its way to say. Conversely, I like very much Amy because of her explaining ways and of her pleasant style.
You know, I used to think that Amy is only a student being btw 18 and 25, very nice and dynamique.
But Yankee is different, not as I thought in Amy.
Unbelievable, 2 persons with 2 styles different.
So, you are both only one and I AM VERY SORRY for asking you many things,as I thought you was only a student.
Again, many thanks for your answers in every detail. If you are free, and if it doesn't disturb you, please review all of my questions (that you haven't yet answered) and share with me your opinions.
I like the way of thinking, of expressing... of Amy more than of Yankee, although it's only one person.
For my information, I taught French before. Right now, I work in business. However, I like languages more than business.
Once again, sorry.
Good luck Van Khanh
