Why can't I use "Call up" here?

why can't I use Call up here?

It's customary to use "Call me or Ring me."
If you want to use 'up' then you have to change the place of 'me' in the sentence.
For example, "Call me up as soon as possible." is OK.
But, "Call up me" is not used.
