Psychiatrist vs. psychologist #2 (permalink) Mon May 15, 2006 12:14 pm   Psychiatrist vs. psychologist

A psychiatrist (note the correct spelling) is a person who studies and treats mental disease. Psychiatrists are doctors.

A psychologist is someone who studies the human mind and human emotions and behaviour, and how different situations have an effect on them.
