Hi Janet,

A bunch is a collection as in a bunch of flowers - bunches would be a number of collections or a large quantity. In this sentence it suggests a lot/a great deal/very much.

Yes, they're both correct, Tom, but they're not equivalent. They have different meanings.

If something is too much, there's a negative aspect. If you say "I love you a lot" that's very positive. Saying "I love you too much" means there's something painful and/or excessive about the amount of love.

If you say "It rains too much" that means you see the amount of rain as excessive, possibly as a source of trouble, and things would be better if it rained less.

If you say "I hate him too much." that means that you think you should hate him less than you do and that the degree of your hatred is excessive.
