Hi

No, the past perfect is not appropiate in this sentence.

Past perfect can be used when you are talking about two past events, and one happened before the other. --> e.g. "We had already eaten when he arrived."

You will also find past perfect in "Type 3 IF-sentences".

In addition to what Amy has said, the Present Perfect is never used with such adverbial modifiers of the past time as "yesterday","the other day","last week","last night"and so on.
